American Bass Anglers Draw Tournament Trail 1.888.203.6222: "Dean West, a contractor in Lake Charles, spoiled Gleason’s back to back wins on Toledo with his 5 fish stringer weighing 13.38. West, caught all of his fish in 20 to 25 feet of water along a creek channel on a CC spoon. Dean reported catching 75 to 100 fish on the spoon throughout the day. Pro angler Dean Norman West was closet to Jeane with a five fish limit weighing 22.46 pounds to take second for the day. Pro angler Tommy Dickerson held the third spot with 19.96 pounds. Jerry Barnett claimed the fourth spot with 18.82 pounds, including the big bass of the day in the pro division weighing 7.13 pounds. Two local pro anglers rounded out the top six spots; Roy Sanford of Brookeland, Tex. fifth with 16.35 pounds and Glenn Freeman of Converse, La with 15.36 pounds.,
Pro angler West was next up with a limit weighing 15.61 pounds to give him a total of 38.07 pounds, taking over the lead.He lamented loosing a fish over 8 pounds 20 minutes before he headed to the weigh in.
Second place finisher and American Rodsmiths Big Bass of the Tournament winner Dean West of Lake Charles also fought the rough water and ran his Yamaha powered Skeeter 250 ZX to the mid lake area of Toledo. Dean fished spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Traps in 2 to 6 feet of water around drains and grass to catch over 15 keepers. When the scales settled Dean's bag weighed 13.47 lbs, just .01 lbs over the next stringer. Dean also won the American Rodsmiths Big Bass of the Tournament with 4.33 lbs bass. For the catching the big bass West won $200.00 and an American Rodsmiths fishing rod. West commented that he caught most of his fish from 7:30 to 12:00. Dean West is sponsored by Dawson Marine and is a member of Team Skeeter.
